Cambridge ESOL CELTA
Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA)
The CELTA course provides initial training leading to a Certificate in English language Teaching to Adults. It is intended for those without previous teaching experience who wish to enter the profession and for existing teachers with no previous training in the EFL field. The course is highly regarded by employers as providing sound initial training and is probably the most internationally recognised certificate in the world.
Course Content
Candidates will:
• Develop an awareness of English and how to describe and explain the language and be able to apply these in professional practice
• Develop an understanding of the Learner, the Teacher and the teaching/learning context
• Develop familiarity with the principles and practice of effective teaching to adults
• Develop appropriate classroom management skills
• Develop an appropriate range of teaching procedures and techniques
• Develop a familiarity with appropriate teaching resources and materials
• Develop appropriate classroom observation techniques
• Identify opportunities for personal professional development within the field
Accreditation
The CELTA is awarded on successful completion of the programme which includes 4 written assignments and assessed Teaching Practice.
