University of Cambridge Examination Courses
We offer part-time and full-time courses leading to the following internationally recognised qualifications:
Cambridge Key English Test (KET)
Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET)
Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) Cambridge Certi ficate of Advanced English (CAE)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
These exams are in March, June and December each year but our programme of continuous enrolment means students may join the course at any time.
Note: You can study any of the above courses without ultimately having to take the examination. A flexible timetable of morning, afternoon or evening lessons enables you to choose exactly when you want to study.
English for Business (6 hours per week)
For any student above elementary level, with either experien ce of or an interest in business we offer courses leading to the LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce & Industry) exams. This internationally recognised qualification is particularly appropriate for anyone wanting to work in business or commerce where English is needed e.g. as a manager, administrator, secretary, receptionist or public relations officer.
The course teaches both written and spoken Business English. It includes a comprehensive range of business documentation and situational language. Students practise and develop interview and telephone skills, taking examples from real life business scenarios together with learning appropriate and useful business language for meetings, sales presentations and negotiating deals.
Students cover many topics including; Travel & Tourism, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Hotel & Catering, Corporate Strategy and Innovation.
IELTS (4 hours per week) - University Preparation
The IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System) is needed for non-native English speakers to enter a British University. Exams are held in locally 2 to 3 times every month.
Most University courses require an IELTS score of 6.5 or above. Please contact your prospective university to check on the IELTS level needed. The examination fee from 2007 is £95 per candidate.
IELTS classes at ISE will be delivered to learn specific exam techniques and can be integrated into your existing study timetable. This way, you'll be able to improve your level of English whilst preparing for the IELTS exam at the same time.
We have an excellent record of success for our students in the IELTS exam.
General English Classes (15 to 30 hours per week)
General English classes are designed for students of all levels who wish to study English intensively and make recognised progress in speaking, reading, writing, listening and grammar. We test all students on arrival to find the appropriate level, using qualified teachers.
ISE operates classes all year at seven different levels:
1. Beginners
2. Elementary
3. Pre-Intermediate
4. Intermediate
5. Upper Intermediate
6. Advanced
7. Proficiency / Upper Advanced
Pre Masters Diploma
48 week integrated programme designed for students who wish to apply for MA / Msc level study in a British University. The Pre-Masters programme concentrates on academic skills, research, data collection, SPSS training, advanced summarization and presentation skills. The IELTS target of 7.0 + examination fee is included as part of the programme.
Conversation Classes (4 hours per week)
We also offer regular classes in:
Pronunciation: to help you speak clearly and understand more easily, these courses provide specific, individualised practice in an area of English which many students find difficult.
Conversation: lively, enjoyable classes with correction and guidance to improve your oral fluency.
One-to-one Classes
Individual tuition available on request starting with a thorough assessment then programme structured to the students particular needs.

Free Classes
For students already enrolled on our courses, we regularly offer extra classes absolutely free! These classes are part of our teacher training programmes, for trainee teachers to practise teaching. They can be a useful and enjoyable way to learn even more English while you are here.
Private Foreign Language Courses
We also offer classes in a variety of other languages on request. We are currently able to run classes in Spanish, Portuguese and French and have previously had classes in Arabic, Japanese, Italian and German. For more details, please contact the school.
